WBC Westbrier specializes in custom publishing and event management for the energy sector, locally as well as globally.
WBC presently owns and manages two Oil & Gas energy events. Both events, Oilsands Banquet and Global Profiles in Energy, are focused on the Western Sedimentary Basin in North America.
The Oilsands Banquet
The Oilsands Celebration Banquet, a high point on the Fort McMurray events calendar, is a gathering that attracts leaders from Industry, Government, Education, First Nations and the Community at large, from the Wood Buffalo region, across Alberta and around the world.
The OILSANDS BANQUET, as it has come to be known, is a Wood Buffalo event, designed and dedicated to selecting and honouring a worthy community stakeholder from this unique region of Alberta. Past Honourees include the Oilsands Discovery Centre, the Athabasca Tribal Council, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the Keyano College Foundation, YMM Fort McMurray Airport Authority, Honouring the Heroes of the Great Wood Buffalo Wildfire and most recently CAREERS: the Next Generation 20@50.
A highlight of the The Event is the Keynote Address brought by a noteworthy person. The Oilsands Banquet has been pleased to have significant leaders as Keynote Speakers including Steve Williams, President & CEO, Suncor Energy Inc., Eric Newell, former President & CEO Syncrude Canada, Grand Chief Phil Fontaine, Assembly of First Nations (2008), Jim Carter, Chair, Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council, National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo, Assembly of First Nations (2013), Scott Clements, President & CEO, Fort McMurray Airport Authority, Rex Murphy, prominent Canadian commentator and author and The Honourable Preston Manning.
An additional key component of the Oilsands Banquet is the production and distribution of Northern Stars, a custom publishing initiative that focuses on the achievements of the selected Honouree. In addition to being praised at the Banquet, the Honouree is also commemorated in a custom publication that gives a detailed review and forecast of its organization and the contributions to the people of the Wood Buffalo/Athabasca region and beyond. The 2017 Oilsands Banquet added a special component by presenting the first “Builders of Wood Buffalo” awards to five deserving inaugural inductees.
The Global Profiles in Energy initiative is the most recent energy event of WBC. Launched in 2018, the GPE focuses on all sectors of the energy spectrum, nationally and internationally, with special emphasis on Oil & Gas. In this the inaugural year the GPE in association with Industry Partners JWN, Canada’s leading energy intelligence company and PennWell, the global leader in energy publishing, is honouring the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association CEPA on this its Silver Anniversary.
CEPA and its member pipeline companies are mandated with delivering Canada’s oil & gas energy, safely and responsibly with a commitment to environmental sustainability in order to meet the growing energy requirements of all Canadians and the world at large.
